Congratulations for coming to Durham to study! Wherever you are from, as you start a new chapter of your life we at the Christian Union would love to get to know you and help you settle in. As a society, we want to celebrate the amazing diversity that the university brings to the city, and which we want represented in our own group.
So if you are a Christian coming from overseas, DICCU is very much for you. It is a great place to get to know Christians from all different backgrounds and denominations, and to be encouraged to share your faith with your friends.
If you’re not a Christian, we would love to meet you. We are excited that Christianity is for absolutely everyone, and that is bigger than any cultural or language difference. Come and say hello to us at our welcome events during International Welcome Week, which are a great chance to chat with us about faith and ask big questions you have.
Our weekly Globe Cafe is a great place to make new friends, have some time to relax, find out about what Christians believe and share with us what you believe about the world. Another regular thing we do is a Language Conversation Partner scheme where we pair you up with a member of the Christian Union to meet up regularly and practise English, and most importantly just get to know each other!
If you’d like any more information about what goes on, or just to say hello, please email me or message me on Facebook and I’d love to meet you during freshers’ week!
I wish you a safe journey to Durham, and hope to see you soon!
